Politically speaking, the PPP`s victory in
PS-88 was not surprising. But, what was shocking was the number of votes that
MQMP got, i.e., only 2,634. This was, perhaps, the least number of votes that MQM
ever got in any elections held in Karachi during its history of over three
decades. If not incorrect to say, MQM`s nominated (Altaf Hussain-supported) an
ordinary candidate easily managed to secure more votes even from Liyari which
has been the PPP and Gangsters-controlled area.
More importantly, for PS-88 by-elections, MQMP
had fielded Sajid Ahmad as its candidate who had been the ex-MNA from Malir twice
on the ticket of Altaf-Hussain-led MQM by securing more than 125,000 votes.
Yet, he failed to get even 2,700 votes in total after his disassociation from
the founder of MQM.
Question is, can the MQMP leadership give any
valid explanation for this humiliation??
Honestly speaking, MQMP`s leadership
cannot put the blame of its worst defeat on the establishment as it was not facing
any “Blue fox” or “Creeping Coup” type operations. Nor was it having any grand
alliance of all its traditional rivals against it in the by-election (like
Altaf Hussain`s candidates used to face). Yet, MQMP`s Sajid Ahmed secured the
least number of votes in the election.
So, that was it, MQMP?? Was this the same destination for which they parted their ways with their leader? Was this the “right track” on which they wanted to put the party by following the “minus-One” formula?? Was this the “success” that got at the cost of disowning their spiritual father, Altaf Hussain?? Will they still accuse Altaf Hussain of making all the decisions from London, as the reason for their poorest performance?? Can they imagine the level of disappointment they created for the Urdu speaking community? Was that the “milestone” for which they were trying to divert the people`s association from Altaf Hussain to themselves? Now, will the common MQM`s voters still have any positive expectation from them about their future? Shame on them!
In fact, Altaf Hussain has turned out to be a soul
in MQM and a binding force for Muhajirs. So, if he is driven out, MQM will automatically
come to an end and the Muhajir unity will eventually disperse. That is what the
establishment had learnt from the failure of its oppressions and, consequently,
it formulated the “Minus One” (Minus Altaf Hussain) strategy and started
looking for disgruntled persons (from within MQM) to be used against the
founder of the party. Afaq Ahmed, Amir Khan, Mustafa Kamal and the “leaders” of
MQMP were the ones who fell prey of this foul game.
Keeping in view the prevailing policy for
urban Sindh from Pindi, it can easily be predicted that the filthy game of the
establishment will continue the same way and new puppets will keep on being brought
forward one after the other (from within MQM or Muhajirs) until their anti-Altaf
Hussain objective is achieved. The establishment`s next horse to be deployed
against Altaf Hussain seems to be the “Voice of Karachi”.
Now, the question is, will the MQMers continue
being trapped and used by the establishment one by one to disperse the Muahir
unity in the name of “principle differences with Altaf Hussain”? Was the “Haqiqi-phase”
not sufficient for them to understand the hidden agenda of the anti-Muhair “forces”?
Were the political failures of Haqiqi, PSP and now MQMP not enough for them to know
the real value of “self-assumed” leaders without Altaf Hussain? After Haqiqi,
PSP and MQMP phases, do they still need to witness a new projected “phase” in
order to be able to come out of the illusion of the establishment and return their
“home” again? Let`s see what they decide accordingly.
