Jamat-e-Islami__The Height of Hypocrisy!

After the complete silence from the Islamic Militants (IS) for about two days, it released the video in which the second Japanese journalist was beheaded. The Japanese hostage crisis has now apparently ended up with the death of the remaining Japanese hostage.

Not only  the Japanese government, but also the leaders from all over the word including the ones from US, UK, France, Australia strongly condemned the Goto`s murder and termed it as an evil act.

Like the other world leaders, the Muslim priests condemned it too. The head of a mosque (Masjid Otsuka), Haroon Qureshi was among the many Muslims in Japan who expressed their sorrow and sympathy over the execution. Mr. Qureshi said, “Murder is not something a human being does.” “It goes against the teachings of Islam”, he added.

Of course, he is right as whatever so-called “Islamic” militants are doing in the name of Islam and “Jihad” (holy war) is truly against the teachings of Islam. It is also true that there are some differences among the followers of various religions of the world on some issues, but taking people hostages and, if demands not fulfilled, beheading them heartlessly is purely an evil act that cannot be supported anyhow.

There are many sensible and learned scholars who not only disagree to views of the extremist groups like Al-Quaida, ISIS, Boko Haram and Taliban, but they also hold them responsible for distorting the true image of Islam before the world.

In contrast to all this, some of the Pakistani religious parties prominently including Jamat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulemae Islam-Fazal-ur-Rehman and Sami-ul-Haq groups have been consistently defending Taliban terrorists and their ill-deeds despite the fact that these extremists have been killing Pakistani people for decades. Although some political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seem to be standing with them in the process of defending the extremists. However, Jamat-e-Islami left the other Taliban apologists far behind when its former Chief (Ameer) Moulana Munawwar Hassan declared then Taliban`s head Hakeem Ullah Mehsud a “Martyr” who had got killed in a US drone attack in a Pakistani tribal area. More importantly, the highest decision-making body of Jamaat-i-Islami (Shura) did not tender apology over Syed Munawar Hasan’s statement, nor did it take the same back as was demanded by the Pakistan Army.

Of If we compare the views of Pakistani Taliban apologists especially of Jamat-e-Islami with that of the Japanese head of a mosque Haroon Qureshi, we find a big difference. On one hand, a priest, (Haroon Qureshi), terms beheading of Japanese (non-Muslims) by Islamic extremists as an inhuman act and declares it against the teachings of Islam, while on the other hand, JI`s leaders awards the title of “Martyr” to Taliban who have been involved in the similar inhuman activities in Pakistan. The question is, when even killing a non-Muslim (Japanese) can be against the teachings of Islam, what about killing thousands of Muslims and even playing football with their heads after cutting them off?

However, I was really shocked when I came to know that the Japanese mosque Masjid Otsuka is a under the control of Jamat-e-Islami and its head Haroon Qureshi belongs to JI too. The question is, when Munawwar Hassan and Ameer of the Japanese mosque belong to the same party, why do they have different views about the religious extremists who behead people? When the JI`s priest of the Japanese mosque can term the murder of a Japanese as an inhuman act, what name should be given to the mass murders of the common Pakistanis including innocent children by Taliban terrorists?

Sadly speaking, the apparent deviation in the views of Masjid Otsuka`s Haroon Qureshi was not due to the reason that he had any difference of opinion with his party or its leadership, rather because of the fact that he was in a foreign country whose neither people nor government could bear the Jamat-e-Islami`s traditional stance for supporting religious extremism anyway. That was why he did not defend the Japanese beheading arguing that it took place because the Japanese government was supporting the US-led coalition waging a military campaign against ISIL, the way Taliban apologists try to justify the TTP`s terrorism in Pakistan. Rather, he declared beheading of the hostage against the teachings of Islam.

What should it be termed if not “Hypocrisy” from Jamat-e-Islami on this issue? This is an eye opener for the people of Pakistan who are deliberately misled by JI. Religious parties like Jamat-e-Islami are the real black sheep which create division in the people on the issue of dealing with Taliban monsters. How strange is that, on one hand even the African Union has decided to send thousands of troops to Nigeria to fight against so-called Islamic Jihadi group (Boko Haram) in order to save the people from its terrorism, but on the other hand, our religious parties are not only against the US drones, which help target Taliban easily, but also even are creating obstacles in the way of Pakistan Armed forces and government taking actions against them. Is doing all these activities from our religious parties, not a deliberate act of leaving the people of Pakistan on the mercy of inhuman Taliban?

Now, the people of Pakistan will have to decide themselves if it is wise to let JI create more divisions in public in order to benefit the Taliban monsters. To tell the truth, it is already too late and if we still continue allowing the Taliban apologists to work for the terrorists, the on-going killings by Taliban whether on the sectarian grounds or as a result of their opposition, they can endanger even the existence of the country….May God save Pakistan!
