Dil To Phir Bhi Pakistani Hai!

The Supreme Court`s order to suspend the membership of the Parliamentarians due to their dual-nationality has divided not only the political parties, but also the common people into two categories.  First group of the people is the one which backs the SC`s order against the dual nationality, while the other one is still supporting the dual nationals. However, the majority of the people and the political parties seem to be against the dual nationality.
The most important point which has created this is division is, how can a person be loyal to Pakistan when he has taken oath to be sincere to a foreign country?
No doubt, this is a very valid point in this respect.. However, one thing that all of us must not forget that these were the economic problems due to which hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis had to migrate from Pakistan. Many of them also got the nationality over there for the sake of securing the future of their families. But, it was not the case at all that their patriotism for Pakistan had turned into their disloyalty. In fact, the overseas Pakistanis are the ones who give much importance to this country not only because of the reasons that their family, friends, relatives and their unforgettable memories are here, but also due to the fact that they still have the natural association with their home land.
In the prevailing political scenario, when especially the anti-government politicians directly or indirectly back these violent protests against the government. The recent provincial government-supported violent protests are the true examples of the same. PTI`s Imran Khan too is ready to bring his “Tsunami” on the roads against the present elected government. Can we expect any peaceful consequences of the “Tsunami” planned to topple the government? Will these violent protests and rallies help Pakistan and the common men? No, of course not! The questions is, when all this confrontation that is a sort of civil disobedience has a justification in the eyes of the anti-government parties, then was there not the similar justification that compelled these Pakistanis to migrate from the country and avail the dual-nationality?
By the way, what would have happened if these dual-nationals Pakistanis had not left Pakistan to avoid these problems? Wouldn`t there have been only an addition to the crow on the roads protesting on load shedding of electricity and gas, scarcity of water, increase in fuel prices, lawlessness and drone attacks? Would these politicians have been happy when these Pakistanis had become a part of the fuel to their anti-government campaigns instead of migrating from Pakistan?
If these dual nationals Pakistanis are still treated as foreign nationals like others, then can any other non-Pakistani have so much association for this country like our own Pakistanis? Can any Afghani, Iranian, Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese Saudi, Turkish or a European practically help Pakistan and its people like our dual-nationals? In case of emergency, does our government look to the other foreigners for help, or these are the overseas Pakistanis including the dual-nationals whom the Pakistani government expects more? Did they not do for Pakistan whatever they could despite having the dual-nationality?
Making investments, sending regular remittances, remitting donations to Pakistan in the times of floods, earth quakes, and for all other campaigns and projects, especially including “Qarz Utaro, Mulk Sanwaro” and Shoukat Khanum Hospital are the solid proofs of how much care they take of Pakistan and its people.
However, if still taking oath is considered the real basis to doubt the sincerity, then why the people of Muslim countries are called our brothers? Have they taken oath to be sincere with Pakistan? If being Muslims is the only reason to consider these non-Pakistanis like our brothers, then what about our own dual-national Pakistanis? Did they become non-Muslims after getting the foreign nationality? Similarly, the term “Friends of Pakistan” was used for the group of countries which helped out Pakistan especially in the recent flood crisis. It should be noticed that generally we use the terms “friend” and “brother like” for the persons whom we consider sincere or loyal to us. So, if just because of their dual-nationality the overseas Pakistanis cannot be considered loyal to Pakistan, then why to show special favor to the governments of the countries called Friend of Pakistan?
China is on the top of the list of those non-Muslim countries which are called its most sincere friends. The question is, did the Chinese government and their citizens ever assure Pakistan that they would fight for it in case of war between China and Pakistan? If it was not so, why to consider the Chinese as sincere friends to Pakistanis? So, should the people of Pakistan expect any sincerity from their “Muslim brothers” living in the Muslim countries of the world? Will they give priority to Pakistan over their own motherlands in case of war? No, it will not happen at all! All of our so-called Muslims and non-Muslim “friends” and “brothers” would pick up the guns in their hands and fight against Pakistan. In this regard, they would not hesitate to even kill their own Pakistani ”friends” and “brothers”.
Considering the bitter reality, can Pakistan logically trust any other country in the world? Will there be any other people or nation in the world that the Pakistanis can consider their real friends and brothers except their own people?? I do not think so.
The purpose of giving these examples is not to oppose the relationship between Pakistan and the governments and the people of other Muslims and Non-Muslim countries in the world. But, the only aim is to make the opponents of the dual-national Pakistanis realize that they are getting biased to their own ethnically, nationally, emotionally and patriotically Pakistani friends and brothers.
It must also be kept in mind that “Moin Qureshi and “Shoukat Aziz” are not the names of every dual national Pakistanis. If these two dual-nations had really done something wrong to our country, then the punishment of their “crimes” should not be given to their whole community (of dual nationals). The corruption, imposing the military rule by sacking the elected governments and legally endorsing these unconstitutional acts by the judges reveal that the (only Pakistani national) generals, judges, politicians, lawyers and the religious priests did not perform their duties in the required ways. Otherwise, Pakistan would neither lose East Pakistan nor would the common Pakistanis face the prevailing problems. So, considering their severe “crimes”, should the loyalty of whole communities of generals, politicians, judges and the lawyers be doubted in the same as all the dual-national Pakistanis?
The most interesting aspect in this regard is that the opponents started questioning the patriotism of the dual-national Pakistanis when the PPP government planned to move a bill to protect them. The question is, why now? Why did any politicians previously question the sincerity of these overseas Pakistanis? Why were they calling the same people the assets of the country? Did any of these politicians ever make such a distinction in the overseas Pakistanis? Then, what should be construed from this?
The anti-government leaders blame that the bill is being introduced to protect only a few people in the government. But, what it seems to be is the bill is being opposed by the opposition just due to the tussle with a few people in the government. In my opinion, we are doing something wrong towards our overseas Pakistanis just because of our political differences. Anyway, the proposed bill is approved or not, it will sure have its own unavoidable impacts on the future of Pakistan.
