The heavy downpour has caused massive gridlocks in the city,
adding to the miseries of the commuters. At least 20 people have been killed by
now in different parts of Karachi. The district and the provincial authorities
have failed altogether in proving the immediate and the due relief to the
people who suffered from the disaster. In the prevailing scenario, many people
missed the former city Nazim Mustafa Kamal. MQM’s Co-ordination committee demanded
the immediate elections of the local bodies in Sindh to avoid such type of
problems. Similarly, the MQM’s Quaid Altaf Hussain also advised the provincial
government to appoint Mustafa Kamal and Kanwer Naveed Jamil as the temporary
city administrators of Karachi and Hyderabad respectively so that the disaster
can be overcome and the rain victims can get the due relief.
However, instead of
thinking over these demands, the Sindh government announced to conduct the
audits of the accounts of the former local governments, that was an open
refusal to accept these demands.
Frankly speaking, when
Syed Mustafa Kamal took oath as the City Nazim of Karachi in 2005 and started
working to make the very hot political battlefield, i.e., Karachi a developed
city, nobody would have ever dreamt of such a tremendous performance from him. The
flyovers, roads, parks, play grounds, stadiums, green belts, under passes,
schools, hospitals, water and sewerage lines, Command & Control System, ambulance
service, Fire Stations and tenders etc all these projects were started and
completed during his tenure. As a result, Karachi turned into a one of the most
rapidly developing cites of the world. In fact, by giving his outstanding
performance, he not only pleasantly surprised the Karachi-ites, but also opened
the eyes of the people all over the country. Because of this unmatched performance,
he got the world recognition and he was declared as one of the best three
mayors of the world.
But despite all
these, the traditionally MQM’s political rivals were not in a mood to admit the
“magic” of Mustafa Kamal in the city. They started giving baseless arguments to
offset his performance. Some people claimed that the development of the city
was not the result of the Mustafa Kamal`s efforts, rather it was the outcome of
the huge amount of money that was allocated and spent here. The question is,
does a federal or a provincial government not have the more amount of money
allocated in its budget than for a city including Karachi? When it does, then
why couldn’t the federal or any single provincial government show the magic
that Mustafa Kamal did??
Secondly, when all
the allocated millions or billions of rupees were utilized purely for the
development of Karachi with utmost sincerity and honesty, was it also not a
miracle in the prevailing corrupt system of the country? Moreover, if it was
not so, why couldn`t anybody else from any party make similar miracle like the MQM’s
city nazim? Thirdly, if the Mustafa Kamal’s performance was only because of the
presence of the then president Pervez Musharaf as it is claimed to dilute the
value of the Mustafa Kamal, then was there only one city nazim in the entire
Pakistan that time? Were there no city nazims of PML-Q in Punjab, from Arbab
Ghulam Rahim in interior Sindh, of MMA in KPK and in Balochistan from the provincial
coalition government? When yes, why did any of their city nazims perform in the
same way as Mustafa Kamal and Kanwer Naveed Jamil did?
Unfortunately, in
spite these open secrets, the MQM’s rivals did not leave any stone unturned to
malign Mustafa Kamal and his party. They tried to single out Mustafa Kamal
arguing that he is the only man in MQM who could give such type of performances;
otherwise, nobody else could be found in MQM. This is not fact at all! However,
if this is temporarily assumed to be true, then is there any other party in the
country which has “only one” man like Mustafa Kamal?? If no, then does MQM not again
become superior to others in this respect too?
It is also important
to notice that the PTI workers try to justify the demand of Imran Khan to be
the Prime Minister of Pakistan arguing that he very honestly and with hard
working successfully built a cancer hospital. Thus, he deserved to be the PM of
the country. If this is the standard to be the Prime Minister of Pakistan,
then, what about Mustafa Kamal?? He did not build only a hospital, but the
biggest city of Pakistan which is larger than some countries of the world.
Then, as per this rule, what should he be the Prime Minister of?? Of Asia, Africa,
European countries or the whole world???
Similarly, it is
worth noticing that when the world was recognizing the sincere, honest and
great efforts of Syed Mustafa Kamal, at the same time, the Pakistani TV
channels, newspapers, anchorperson, political analysts, columnists were
severely criticizing him. All his efforts were being considered as “the
incompetent attempts by an inexperienced boy”. Even, Syed Mustafa Kamal was
called “Mustafa Kudaal” by these people. How interesting it is that the people
who were not to get any benefits of the developments of Karachi gave him
importance by declaring him one of the best three mayors of the world. In
contrast to it, the people who were to directly avail the benefits of the
development in the city, were disgracing him by calling “Mustafa Kudal”??
Millions of
thanks to God that He has the authority to grant any one respect or disrespect.
Otherwise, the biased people in our country had almost self-imposed the
disgrace for Mustafa Kamal. Therefore, it is the need of the hour to get rid of
all the hatred, enmity, prejudice against MQM and all of its priceless
“diamonds” in the best interest of the country and the nation as these are the
people who can put the country on the right track and Karachi are Hyderabad are
the best examples of the same. So when the right man is here, why to wait for someone else to resolve all the pending issues of the people in the country? However, if the nation still ignores Mustafa Kamal and its party MQM, then this is the situation in which it is said,
"Bachha Baghle Me Aur Dhandhora Sheher Me"
