Altaf Hussain , The Most “Controversial” Leader!

Ever since MQM emerged in the Pakistani politics under the leadership Mr. Altaf Hussain, it has been made the target from all the forces of Pakistan which have been ruling the country for decades. MQM and its leadership first faced the severe allegations, which then resulted in operations from the political as well as the military establishments. Even, at present, the victimization of MQM is going on. The question is why do the rulers target MQM and its founder again and again?

To tell the truth, in the decades` prevailing politics of the elite class, Mr. Altaf Hussian lit an inextinguishable candle of truth “Haqprasti” by forming APMSO and then MQM in the Pakistan politics. The light of this relatively small candle turned out to be like the light of the sun in the dense darkness of the corrupt political system of the landlord, industrials and the religious extremists backed by the military establishment. The way MQM demonstrated its confidence on the low profile people by sending them to the Assemblies, is still unmatched in the country`s politics. Not a single leader or party has had enough courage to rely on his own middle class workers and voters in the way MQM did. This was only Mr. Altaf Hussain who expressed his blind confidence on his followers.

Moreover, his elected councilors, MNA`s, MPA`s, Ministers and the Governor (Sindh) did not disappoint him and their people at all. Of the most vocal public representatives in the Assemblies and the Senate have been the MQM members. MQM`s MNA Kh. Sohail Mansoor has been declared the highest tax paying person in Pakistan; the development of Karachi and Hyderabad are the true reflection of the outstanding performance of the MQM`s councilors and Nazims. Consequently, the former City Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal was declared as one of the best three mayors of the world. Mr.Altaf Hussain’s workers are the most educated, well mannered and presentable spokespersons on Media.

Similarly, the way Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad served the people of Sindh has made him the most prominent among all the governors in the country. On top of it, his day & night efforts for the release of the Pakistani sailors from the hostage of the Somali pirates are an unforgettable part of the history of Pakistan that had left a very pleasant impression of the country on the world. Can any other party claim to have the members who have served the people and the country with so much devotion and sincerity? No, not at all! In fact, all the credit definitely goes to Mr. Altaf Hussain who made the low, rather, no-profile common people to realize that they can really do wonders for the people and the country if opportunities are given to them.

However, all these unmatched and revolutionary aspects of Mr. Altaf Hussain were considered as his severe “crimes” by the ruling establishment. As a result, the MQM`s Quaid was made “taboo” for the people of rest of the country. Countless nastily fabricated allegations were leveled on him and all the state machinery were utilized to not only to malign him, but also to crush his party. For this purpose, the military as well as the political establishments left no stone unturned to make him and his party controversial before the common people so that they could be kept away from Mr. Altaf Hussain.

Not only all that, immediately after the search of Mr.Altaf Hussain`s office-cum-house, the media-men questioned if it would be easy for the MQM`s Quaid to prove how he got the amount of money recovered by the Met Police. According to MQM, its Quaid has no source of income at all and the party financially supports him. How strange it is that in the Pakistan`s corrupt political environment where majority of the political and religious leaders use the magnitude of their political mandate for finding new sources of incomes, the founder of MQM has no source of income? It is the “crime” of Altaf Hussain that he has no source of income?? Can any other leader of a party dare to completely be dependent on his party`s financial support? Is it not the true commitment and sincerity that Mr. Altaf Hussain has proved towards his philosophy of Practicalism and Realism? Can any other Pakistani leader, despite belonging to the elite class, ever think of sacrifice all of his income sources in order to show his sincerity and commitment to his party and followers? When, of course not, then why not to accept the unmatched charismatic leadership of Altaf Hussain?

However, while talking about the imminent candidate for the post of Prime minister-ship after the disqualification of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the anchorperson Najam Sethi, made a very interesting comment in his program. He said,

”PPP would not choose anyone who is somehow controversial in the party, as controversial persons are the ones who are criticized on doing something different whether good or bad”. 

He further added,

“But, mind you, this is fact that only the controversial people can bring the real change in a party, society or the country. These persons are criticized just because they are not in a mood to accept the status quo and want the revolutionary change. How can the supporters and defenders of the status quo tolerate such type of person? That is why such people are criticized and, as a result, they become controversial. So, it will be only a controversial person who is going to bring revolution in Pakistan too.”

I am not sure if , Najam Sethi himself realizes the real meaning of what he has said, the fact is that he has spoken the truth. In the light of the prevailing scenario, has anybody else been made so much controversial in Pakistan except the MQM`s Quaid over speaking for revolution in the country? Is Altaf Hussain not the only leader who, from the beginning, has been speaking for the long-awaiting change, and, consequently, been made “controversial” due to this “crime”? Is that not the MQM`s founder who not only preached the philosophy of revolutionary change against the long prevailing status quo, but also practically struggled and has proved that he can do it?  Is there any other politician in the Pakistani politics that has been speaking for the change from his beginning and, due to this, is considered controversial? So, taking into account the on-ground reality, isn`t Mr. Altaf Hussain the same leader who could bring the required revolution in the country?

No matter, the MQM critics, including Najam Sethi himself, accepts this or not, but the fact is that the upcoming revolution by Mr. Altaf Hussain cannot be avoided at all; it will take place anyway Insha Allah. Irrespective of by whatever means the general people are kept away from Altaf Hussain, God has got His own system of revealing reality to the people. He does expose the facts the way He wants and when He deems appropriate, decides to make it happen, and nobody can stop it anyway!

That is exactly what that the MQM`s Quaid himself believes in, and this is why he, while addressing the public gathering on the 3^rd day “Soyem” of Shaeed-e-Iqelab, said,

“I pray to God that He may grant enough time to the critics, analysts and the intellectuals who are criticizing and making fun of me and my aim of revolution, so that they can witness the upcoming revolution with their own eyes”.

May Allah accept Altaf Hussain`s prayer and help him to bring soon the revolution he has been struggling for.. and also give him a long and healthy life! Aameen! Happy birthday to the only leader who can truly bring a change in Pakistan! Happy Birthday QeT!!
